A few articles ago we wrote about how important it is to have dreams and to strive to obtain them even though it may mean taking different routes and changes of plans. When considering these plans, it is also necessary to think about the short, medium and long-term consequences for ourselves and for others.
Here is a short story to get you thinking about this.
The Mice in Council
Once upon a time the mice were so distressed by the way a particular cat was persecuting them that they called a meeting to decide the best way to get rid of this continuous intrusion. Many plans were talked about, many of which were rejected. At last a young mouse proposed that a bell should be put around the cat’s neck so that they would know in advance when he was approaching and be able to escape. The proposal was approved by all. An old mouse, who had sat in silence for the whole gathering, said that the plan was a good idea and would certainly be successful. However, he had a doubt. Which one of them would put the bell around the cat’s neck?
The moral of the tale being that it is one thing to have a good plan and another to carry it out.
